Loss in Weight Feeder

What is Loss in weight Feeding Technology?

With the demand of high-quality product standard, an intelligent and precise production process is highly requirement during these years. Loss-in-Weight weighing feeder is a precise and intelligent product using dynamic control technology. It uses the speed of an actuator such as a screw or a pump to control the feed volume. After the continuous production line adopts a gravimetric loss in weight feeder, it changes the traditional batch feeding method, improves the uniformity of the batch feeding ratio, improves the level of factory automation, and greatly improves the quality of user products.

Principle of Gravimetric Loss-in-Weight Feeding

The measuring hopper is mounted on a platform scale (frame structure equipped with precision sensors). When the feeder is running, the motor drives the feeding screw or pump to move. At the same time, the material in the measuring hopper flows out. By reducing the weight in the unit time, obtain the actual feeding amount, compare it with the set feeding amount to get the error value, and then adjust the speed of the feeding motor through the PID closed-loop control algorithm to achieve the precise feeding requirements. This process ensures an accurate feeding or dosing during the production process.

The general purpose of Loss in Weight feed system is to accurately weigh and control the output of variable products either, continuously or as a batch. As the name suggests, the Loss in Weight concept is primarily based around the application of a weigh system allied to PLC control, the outline specification for the system shown below. Whilst the weigh function is at the heart of any Loss in Weight system it does not directly impact on the material flow, therefore, the correct design of the storage vessel and the choice of a suitable material transfer is critical and is reflected in the options available.

Weighing and batching

Standard loss–in-weight modules are used to negate the use of weigh hoppers and to eliminate the impact of inflight material. This system is particularly useful when the product to be weighed is sticky and does not have good flow properties.
